Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 PCI Slot Not Working
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 PCI Slot Not Working or error on card. It was a pain and lots of hard work and dedication to get this fixed. I have a Windows 10 Pro. 64 Bits installed on the machine. Can you believe that there is no updated BIOS driver for this Windows version on the manufacturer website.
I was trying to do a Bios update to see if I could get this fixed but there is not version for my Windows 10 Pro. What a bummer huh? I have been having lots of issues with this computer cause when the computer was turning on all was good. When it reached the Windows welcome screen, all of the sudden shuts down and does it again and again. It is a turn on and off loop.
Ram Issues and Replacements
The 8GB Ram stick that was there it burnt because of this. That is not good for business! I had to buy new ram stick for the machine, but did not want this to happen again, so I was determined to fix it. The computer was unstable because something was wrong and I had to find and fix.
The computer suddenly shuts down without giving any codes. Sometime I thought maybe it was the power supply. But wait, the power supply is 750 Watts so I knew it wasn’t. I removed my existing nice video card from it and insert another one to see if it was the video card. Prior to doing this I removed all Video Card drivers and still was doing the turning off and on. I inserted a new video card and still doing the same thing.
This is how I knew it wasn’t the video card. After that I used the motherboard integrated video and it worked fine. But I want to have a video card on it because it is a gaming computer. The motherboard is designed for a gaming computer. It would be a shame not to use a video card on it.
Get It Fixed
I did not do the Bios upgrade because I don’t have a updated windows 10 version so that is not doable. I am still waiting for a response from the manufacturer about it. I won’t be doing it because I already fix the issue. The computer is fine now. OK, HERE WAS MY FIX.
Remove the video card. remove all memory and just leave one ram stick on it. Clear the CMOS and then remove the battery off the motherboard. Leave it off for 5 minutes and install back. Remove any extra USB cards you might have there. If you don’t remove this it will not work, don’t ask why cause I don’t know. Start the computer up and go to your bios settings and load default values and reboot.
If you have any extra USB cards on it it will still shut down on and off cause that is what I had. Then I removed the USB card and booted correctly. Go ahead and the computer should work fine now, go ahead and use it normally for 5 minutes. Shut down your computer and insert your video card and all should be fine now.
I have seen lots of questions and answers online and some people didn’t have the answer to this. So, I had to work hard on it here reading pieces by pieces and putting them together to fix it myself. Some people had big problems with it and did RMA or gave up on the fix online.
It is very easy to fix when you know how to fix it. This is good to do sometimes to reset maybe the USB ports and any expansion slots that do not work.
CMOS Issues and Fixes
I also found out that if you leave you CMOS covering on the metals your computer will be dead. It does not start if you leave your cover on those pins. I did that and didn’t realize it and thought that the computer was dead for good. The plastic covering came off but it left the metal plated part covering those pins. You could barely see it, I had to put a flash light to inspect it. I removed the plated covering and the computer was alive again, wow huh!
Go ahead and comment if you have any question or if you want to share your computer knowledge. I hope I can help someone out there with this post. Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 PCI Slot Not Working but get it all fixed and computer is alive again. This motherboard is expensive.
